Mesopotamia Association for Linguistic and Cultural Studies

Since its establishment in 2017, the Mesopotamia Association for Linguistic and Cultural Studies, in short MED-DER, has been acting as a bridge for the coexistence of the different languages, cultures, beliefs and identities in the region. Apart from these tasks, MED-DER carries out activities related to women, children and human rights and maintains close contact with institutions and networks established in Diyarbakır to support women’s and children’s rights in the wider region.

From this point of view, the association organizes language and education workshops, panels and symposiums promoting mother tongue education, translation workshops, and other workshops and seminars and also prepares materials for these kinds of workshops. MED-DER further provides multilingual announcement service at book fairs where it also organizes panels promoting linguistic and cultural diversity as well as mother tongue education.

MED-DER provides institutional translation services upon request, compiles oral and written works of Kurdish literature, and works jointly with various institutions to organize different events.
