The IBF is an independent and impartial civil society organization founded upon the freedom of thought and expression. It has adopted the principle that all kinds of ideas respecting basic rights and freedoms and adhering to democratic values should be able to coexist.
The foundation carries out various activities in order to widen the scope and increase the visibility of Kurdish studies. To that end, IBF mainly organizes spring and fall academy programs, conferences, panels and seminars for undergraduate and graduate students, but also publishes various books on history, sociology and geography, as well as the quarterly “Kurdish History Journal.” The foundation hosts a public research library in its facilities.
Those willing to collaborate and research or share experience in the fields of Kurdish history, culture, social structure and similar areas can apply to IBF.
